![]() ![]() I really liked Milo as the main character. The characters in this mystery are the aspects that shine brightest. Just a heads up and I’ll give you a warning before I delve into some spoilers. Also, if you decide to give Greenglass House a read and want to see my thoughts on this plot twist, you can check back here. ![]() It makes for an extremely surprising and interesting plot point, but as some parents might find it a bit much for their reader, I’ll discuss what it adds to the book and how it affects the story. All of the above are traits that Greenglass House encapsulates.Īt the end of this section of the review, I’ll discuss a plot twist in spoiler-y detail, as it’s part of what’s discussed in the “Spiritual” section of the Content Review. They’re usually random (in a fun way), and the characters are interesting and sometimes relatable. They tend to be atmospheric and occasionally eerie while never straying from the confines of PG territory. There’s just something about middle-grade mysteries. – A character introduces Milo to RPGs (role-playing games), and her character is a “scholiast,” which in the game means that she follows around angels and has “unearthly powers.” – Some folklore tales with fairytale magic, etc. – References to magic, divining (off-hand mention), destiny, luck, ghosts/haunting ![]() – Some mild language like darn, flipping, etc. ![]()

![]() With one exception, everyone who might possibly have been involved in this crime was a perfect stranger to Daisy and me two days ago. Naturally, murder is always rather dreadful, but all the same, after our last murder case (at Daisy’s house, Fallingford, in the Easter holidays), when every suspect was someone we knew, this seems rather separate to us, and that is a relief. ![]() This murder would always have happened, whether Daisy and I had been here to detect it or not, so how can we be blamed for investigating it? If we did not, what sort of Detective Society would we be? And as for Daisy and me being detectives-why, it is just who we are. First, holidaying on a train was his idea-and inviting Daisy too. Of course, this is not true in the least. ![]() From the way my father is carrying on, anyone would think that the murder which has just taken place was our fault-or rather, that it was Daisy’s. ![]() ![]() ![]() This was told to us by our mothers friend, who dropped by one afternoon with a basketful of okra. Within a year we would move again and, as she explained, there wasnt much point in getting too close to people we would have to say good-bye to. My mother made friends with one of the neighbors, but one seemed enough for her. WHEN MY FAMILY FIRST MOVED to North Carolina, we lived in a rented house three blocks from the school where I would begin the third grade. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Throwing herself into the task at hand, little does Sam realise that the keys to love and happiness may also be found at Hedgehog Hollow, when she least expects it…Įscape to Hedgehog Hollow this summer with top 10 bestseller Jessica Redland for the perfect uplifting, feel-good read.
